It’s Raining Outside

In the Style of Cannock Chase

It’s raining outside,
As time keeps passing by.
Still I drift to sleep,
A million dreams at a time.

Sometimes I understand why,
But when I close my eyes,
It doesn’t matter why
Only the things I love in life.

Ah, da-da-da
La-da-da, la-da-da
La-da-da, da-da-da
Da-da, da-da-da
Da-da-da
La-da-da, da-da-da
La-da-da, da-da-da
Da-da, da-da-da

The sun rises slow,
But I never want to know
If I’ve changed at all,
As the moon surrendered it all.

Fading slowly into the night,
Somehow I’m still in the fight.
Maybe that’s enough for me,
Knowing I can still be

La-da-da, da-da-da
Da-da-da
La-da-da, da-da-da
La-da-da, da-da-da
Da-da, da-da-da

And when everything settles in,
Like a promise flowing downwind.
Maybe it wasn’t meant to be seen,
Or maybe it was meant to be lived.

If tomorrow calls my name,
I shall wake up again,
And keep living on
And keep living on

La-da-da, da-da-da
Da-da-da
La-da-da, la-da-da
La-da-da, da-da-da
Da-da, da-da-da
Da-da-da
La-da-da, da-da-da
La-da-da, da-da-da
Da-da, da-da-da

keep living on
keep living on

So there I was, drunk as hell, laid out on the couch while feeling like a hot potato… and my niece plays this beautiful song on the tv. I was like yo what a bad ass song… then I drifted away for hours. I was tired, drunk, pissed off at the world (for no reason), pissed off at everything since becoming a homebody has taken over most of my passions. I don’t even go to Ruidoso or Cloudcroft anymore. So I felt I needed to come up with a tribute and this is it. As I write it, it’s raining hard outside. There’s always something beautiful about the rain just pouring down. Like hearing the faint noise of a song just playing out in the woods, the neighborhood, the nothingness of your mind, drifting away with just enough umph for you to feel nostalgic.
