Midnight Rain

It’s five past midnight and I find myself walking alone.
The shadows converse in the corners,
waiting for the storm.

It almost feels like teardrops,
like the ones you cried when I was gone.

No more lies ahead,
no more road behind.
The only thing left to do
is deal with what I’ve become.

CHORUS

One night beneath the cold
of the darkest moon,
The shadows come to hunt.
Many lifetimes of prayers,
forgotten faces come undone.

Forgotten places,
all drowned in sorrow.
There’s nothing ahead,
not a single soul in sight.

Only memories of battles once fought,
scarred visions of a future never sought.
Drown in the deepest sorrows,
forgotten lore and more.

The demons come to feast
upon your soul once more.

Fight! Fight!
Tear them all apart.
Show them who has teeth.
Show them who’s the one.
The one who’s got bite.

Fight! Fight!
Make them think you’re weak,
And when they come a-knocking,
Rattle them to the teeth!

Let them taste the fear
They tried to feed to you.
Let them hear the thunder,
As you come crashing through.

Fight! Fight!
Stand your ground tonight.
Show them who you are,
The one who’s got the bite.
